U19 Women’s National Team Selection Camp Concludes Ahead of ICC Asia Qualifiers

Bhutan Cricket successfully concluded the U19 Women’s National Team selection camp from 7 to 9 February 2026 as part of preparations for the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup Asia Qualifiers scheduled to take place towards the end of April in Hong Kong, China. The three day camp brought together 31 young players from five districts Sarpang, Samtse, Thimphu, Punakha and Wangdue, all competing for a place in the final 14 player national squad.

The selection camp was conducted across the Thimphu Indoor Cricket Academy and the RMD Center, with players undergoing assessments in batting, bowling, wicket keeping, fielding, and match based scenarios. The sessions provided a comprehensive platform for players to showcase their technical skills, game awareness, and adaptability in competitive environments.

Throughout the camp, players participated in structured drills, net sessions, and game simulations designed to evaluate performance across multiple aspects of modern cricket. The final day focused on fielding assessments in the morning, followed by afternoon net sessions, marking the conclusion of on field evaluations.

The list of probable U19 Women’s players includes young talents such as Jigme Tshomo, Sonam Choki, Pelden Lekzang Wangmo, Sonam Yangchen Parvassi Patri Pradhan, Unisha Rai, Tenzin Wangmo Pradhan, Sonam Choden Lhop, Nima Rigyel, Anusha Gurung, Ugyen Lhaki, Kinga Choden, Jetshen Lhamo Dema, Ritu Gupta, Samjana Mongar, Kinley Seldon, Cheku Dechen, Pranita Mongar, Sonam Keldan Wangmo, Tshering Choki Choden, Riya Pradhan, Sangay Yangzom, Sonam Pelden, Sherab Dema, Pema Kuentshog Dorjee, Versha Rai, Sonam Zangmo, Cheki Wangmo, Tandin Om, Tandin Pem and Karma Lhamo across centers from Punakha, Samtse, Thimphu, Sarpang and Wangdue. Several national players were also included in the probable list, providing valuable competition and experience within the group.

The selection committee will convene tomorrow to review performances and shortlist players for the final national squad. The selected players will then enter a national training camp as Bhutan continues its preparations for the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup Asia Qualifiers.

The final day of the selection camp will be held at the RMD Center, with a strong focus on fielding assessments and match specific scenarios. This will complete the evaluation process before the final squad is announced and enters the national training camp phase.

The U19 Women’s selection camp represents an important step in Bhutan Cricket’s development pathway for women’s cricket, as the nation prepares to compete on the regional stage and continue building a strong foundation for future national teams.
