BHUTAN CRICKET APPOINTS NEW HEAD COACH FOR WOMEN’S NATIONAL CRICKET TEAM

The Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Arzoo Raj as the Head Coach of the Bhutan Women’s National Team. This marks his return to the national side, having previously led the team during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Malaysia in 2023.

Arzoo Raj brings extensive coaching experience across Indian domestic cricket and international pathways, along with a strong background in high performance training and athlete development. He is a BCCI Level B qualified coach and a certified Strength and Conditioning specialist, consistently demonstrating the ability to develop players and build competitive teams.

Coaching Experience and Achievements

  • Nagaland Cricket Association: Head Coach of the Senior Men’s team. Led the team to multiple North East Domestic Championship titles and progression into elite domestic divisions. Head Coach for Nagaland U16 and U19 Women’s teams, part of the North East Zone coaching setup during the Duleep Trophy
  • Assam Cricket Association: Fielding and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Senior Women’s team, contributing to a semi final finish in domestic competition
  • Delhi Capitals Cricket Academy (2021 to 2023): Focused on skill development and structured training within a professional franchise environment

Arzoo’s multi dimensional expertise spans technical coaching, fielding, strength and conditioning, and high performance development, making him uniquely suited to lead Bhutan’s Women’s National Cricket Team into the next phase of growth.

My focus will be on creating a disciplined, high performance environment where players can grow with confidence and consistency. Together, we aim to build a strong team culture and compete with belief. I am here to make a team of stars, not a star player.” said Arzoo Raj, the newly appointed Head Coach of the Bhutan Women’s National Cricket Team.
