Hong Kong, China stay unbeaten with clinical win over Bhutan in Lotus Cup 2026
Gelephu witnessed another high-quality contest today as Hong Kong, China maintained their unbeaten run in the ongoing Women’s T20I Tri-Series – Lotus Cup 2026, registering a convincing win over Team Bhutan in Match 3 at the Gelephu International Cricket Ground.
Opting to bat first, Hong Kong, China put on a strong total of 174 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, built on a solid middle-order partnership and late acceleration. After an early exchange of wickets, Yasmin Daswani anchored the innings with a fluent 70 off 53 balls, striking twelve boundaries and keeping the scoreboard ticking. She found excellent support from Mariko Hill, whose 39 added stability, before Chan Ka Ying provided the momentum with a blistering 40 off just 20 deliveries, including four fours and two sixes.
Bhutan’s bowlers showed discipline in patches, with Anju Gurung standing out for her economical spell of 1 for 16, while Ritshi Choden picked up two wickets in the middle overs. However, Hong Kong’s depth ensured the total continued to climb right till the final over.
In reply, Bhutan faced early pressure while chasing the stiff target of 175. Openers tried to settle in, with Karma Dema’s 19 and Ngawang Choden’s 10 offering brief resistance. Sonam Pelden top-scored with 28, and Sonam Choden contributed a fighting 28 off 25, but regular wickets prevented Bhutan from building any sustained partnership.
Hong Kong, China’s bowling unit remained sharp throughout the innings. Chan Ka Ying delivered a standout all-round performance, claiming 3 wickets for 13 runs in her four overs, effectively breaking the backbone of Bhutan’s chase. She was well supported by Iqra Sahar (2/24) and Siu Mei Wai (1/19), as Bhutan closed on 110 for 7 at the end of 20 overs.
With this result, Hong Kong, China make it two wins from two matches, extending their winning streak in the tournament, while Bhutan now stand with one win from two outings as the competition continues to unfold in Gelephu.
