Message from the CEO

Building Bhutan Cricket for the Future

Bhutan Cricket has recently drawn international attention as our players begin to earn opportunities beyond our borders. These moments are more than headlines; they are powerful affirmations of how far Bhutanese cricket has come. From modest beginnings on school grounds to the establishment of international-standard facilities, our journey has been shaped by perseverance, sacrifice, and an unshakable belief in the potential of our players.

We have faced challenges, endured setbacks, and made difficult choices, but each step has strengthened our resolve to build something lasting.

One of the most meaningful transformations I have witnessed is the shift in mindset—from simply participating in tournaments to genuinely believing that we can compete and win. As someone who has served Bhutan Cricket as its first national captain, former national coach, and now as CEO, this change represents one of our greatest achievements. We have recorded historic victories and tournament successes despite operating without dedicated pitches or standard practice facilities for many years. These achievements speak volumes about the resilience, talent, and commitment of our players and support staff.

Looking ahead, my vision is clear and ambitious. I see Bhutan’s teams competing confidently in ICC international tournaments alongside established cricketing nations. While this may appear distant, I firmly believe it is achievable with the right infrastructure, strong systems, and continued support from our President, the ICC, the ACC, and our valued patrons and partners.

There is value in dreaming big, provided we remain disciplined in our approach and committed to building the right processes. Our focus must be on investing wisely in areas that will form the backbone of sustainable success.

At present, our priority lies in strengthening three critical pillars: players, coaches, and infrastructure. These investments are essential to raising performance standards and creating an environment where excellence can flourish. Beyond this, building meaningful relationships with other cricketing nations will be key to unlocking greater exposure, learning opportunities, and competitive experience for our teams.

One of our greatest challenges remains the creation of regular, high-level competitions and the establishment of cricket as a viable professional pathway for players and coaches. Achieving this will require unwavering commitment, forward-thinking leadership, and strategic investment. It is a challenge we are prepared to face, guided by clarity of purpose and collective responsibility.

For many of our current players, cricket is not just a sport but a way of life. As CEO, I am deeply committed to ensuring that both our men and women are supported as they navigate the demands and responsibilities that come with this journey. Through integrity, sound judgment, and a shared sense of purpose, we will continue to build an environment where players can grow, perform, and represent the nation with pride.

Thank you, and Tashi Delek.
