The Bhutan Men’s National Team is set to embark on a crucial international assignment as they prepare to compete in the Thailand Open Men’s T20I Series 2026, scheduled at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok from 25 to 28 February 2026. The four-team T20 International tournament will feature Bhutan, hosts Thailand, Japan, and Bahrain, providing an important platform for the Dragons to test themselves against strong associate nations and gain valuable international experience.
Earlier today, the team met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB), who shared the organization’s future plans and long-term vision for Bhutan Cricket. The CEO emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and consistent performance in building a high-performance national team. He encouraged the squad to embrace the opportunity with dedication and focus, and extended his best wishes for the upcoming tournament, expressing confidence in the team’s preparation and potential to perform strongly on the international stage.
Following the CEO’s meeting, team captain Thinley Jamtsho addressed the squad in a motivational session, briefing the players on their roles and responsibilities as national representatives. Reflecting on the early days of Bhutanese cricket, the captain shared stories of how players once played purely for passion, without expecting anything in return. He reminded the team that their dedication and love for the sport helped Bhutan win historic trophies and gain recognition internationally.
The captain urged the players to remain thankful for the opportunities they now have and to continue working hard. He emphasized that the future of Bhutan Cricket is in their own hands, noting that consistent success on the field will lead to better facilities, stronger support systems, and more opportunities for the team. He encouraged the squad to dream big and aim to compete against bigger cricketing nations, highlighting that ambition, discipline, and performance must go hand in hand.
Thinley Jamtsho also stressed the importance of mentality and professionalism, reminding the players that nothing should be taken for granted. He encouraged the squad to cherish the moment, give their best at all times, and remain humble, noting that there is always someone ready to step in and that every place in the team must be earned through commitment and performance.
Bhutan will open their tournament campaign against Bahrain on 25 February, followed by matches against Thailand on 26 February and Japan on 27 February. The top two teams from the round-robin stage will qualify for the Final on 28 February, while the remaining two teams will contest the third-place playoff.
The Bhutan Men’s National Team will travel to Thailand tomorrow, carrying the hopes of the nation and the spirit of Bhutan Cricket as they step onto the international stage. The Thailand Open Men’s T20I Series 2026 will serve as an important platform for Bhutan to gain international exposure, earn T20I experience, and continue building momentum in global cricket.
