BCCB Celebrates President's ICC Long Service Award and Ngawang Choden's Historic International Century
The Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) held a special felicitation ceremony yesterday at its Head Office in the presence of BCCB Board Members, members of the Development Committee, national players, coaches, and staff to celebrate two proud milestones for Bhutan Cricket.
The ceremony honoured BCCB President, Mr. Thinley Wangchuk Dorji, on receiving the ICC Long Service Award, one of the highest honours presented by the International Cricket Council in recognition of outstanding and long-standing service to the game of cricket.
Mr. Thinley Wangchuk Dorji has served Bhutan Cricket in many capacities, from being a national cricketer, Member, mentor and to serving as President. Under his leadership, Bhutan Cricket has made significant progress in infrastructure development, international participation, grassroots expansion, and the promotion of cricket across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Thinley Wangchuk Dorji dedicated the award to the entire Bhutan cricket fraternity.
“Receiving the ICC Long Service Award is a great honour and I am deeply grateful for this recognition. However, this award is not mine alone. It reflects the collective efforts of everyone who has worked tirelessly for the growth and development of cricket in Bhutan. I have always loved the game, played the game, and I will continue to support the betterment of cricket in every way I can. I dedicate this award to everyone who has contributed selflessly to the advancement of Bhutan Cricket.”
The ceremony also recognised Ms. Ngawang Choden, who recently became the first Bhutanese female cricketer to score an international century during the ACC Women’s Under-19 Premier Cup 2026, creating a historic milestone for Bhutan Cricket.
In recognition of her outstanding achievement, BCCB presented Ms. Ngawang Choden with a Tashi Khadar, a Certificate of Appreciation, and a performance incentive in accordance with the Player Grading and Contract System (PGCS) Policy.
The ceremony reflected BCCB’s commitment to recognising excellence, honouring long-standing service, and celebrating achievements that inspire the next generation of Bhutanese cricketers.
