Born on 1 April 1976 in Phongmey village, Trashigang, Deki Yangzom has dedicated her life to education and the development of cricket in Bhutan. A teacher at Dechencholing Higher Secondary School since 2001, she became involved in cricket in 2006, at a time when the sport was still in its early stages in the country. As one of the first female sports teachers to step into cricket coaching, she played a pioneering role in introducing and nurturing the game among young students.

Thirty one players from five districts are competing for a place in the final 14 player squad, undergoing assessments in batting, bowling, wicket keeping, fitness, and fielding under the guidance of the national coaching staff.
