Lotus Cup 2026
Lotus Cup 2026 Trophy Photographed with Captains at Gelephu’s Most Meaningful Sites
The official trophy photographs of the Women’s T20I Lotus Cup 2026 were taken today in Gelephu, featuring the captains of Bhutan, Hong Kong (China), and Malaysia ahead of the upcoming tri-series.
Bhutan captain Anju Gurung was joined by Natasha Miles of Hong Kong, China, and Winifred Duraisingam of Malaysia for the shoot, which took place at locations that reflect both the future vision and cultural roots of the host city.
One set of photographs was taken at the trial run area of Gelephu Mindfulness City, a place where many seeds of medicinal plants have been sown, reflecting the long-term vision of His Majesty for the city as a space of balance, wellness, and mindful living, where development and nature grow together in harmony. Over time, this area has become a cherished space, nurtured with care and attention, where many hands of Bhutanese citizens have contributed as volunteers to sow and tend the seeds. The area represents values of service, harmony with nature, and thought for generations to come, and is planned to become one of the country’s first eco-parks in the future. It is this spirit that makes the location a meaningful setting for the unveiling of the Lotus Cup trophy.
Additional photographs were taken at Bhutan Point in Gelephu town, a place known for its strong cultural identity and traditional Bhutanese design. The setting highlights symbols of Bhutan’s heritage and connects the tournament to the country’s living culture.
The tournament is named the Lotus Cup, as the lotus flower symbolizes resilience, growth, and purity. These values reflect the journey of women’s cricket, where progress is built through patience, discipline, and determination.
The Lotus Cup 2026 will be hosted in Gelephu, within the region of Gelephu Mindfulness City, a national development initiative focused on sustainability, wellbeing, and mindful living. Matches will be played at the Gelephu International Cricket Ground, Bhutan’s premier cricket venue and the home of international cricket in the country.
The Women’s T20I tri-series will feature Bhutan, Hong Kong (China), and Malaysia, marking an important milestone for women’s cricket in Bhutan and strengthening regional sporting ties through international competition.
